OBS Days of Mindfulness
|
Monthly Days of Mindfulness - Poya Days Once a
month, members and friends of the Ottawa Buddhist Society gather to
practice mindfulness meditation at the Tu-An Pagoda
(Vietnamese Buddhist Temple), 3591 Albion Road, near Bank
Street (unless otherwise stated below). We make an attempt to schedule
this observance day on the Saturday th 15th of each month for 2005 to
commemorate the fact that the Buddha was enlightened under a full
moon. Whenever possible, the Days of Mindfulness will be
conducted by a visiting Monk or Nun or by a lay person with experience
in conducting such events. If you are new to OBS events, we
ask that you please consult the following websites for information on
proper conduct / etiquette with Theravada monastics: The Days of Mindfulness run from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and include periods of sitting meditation, walking meditation, Dhamma readings, listening to Dhamma talks (from either an invited teacher or else a taped talk), occasional discussions, as well as a pot-luck vegetarian lunch. If you
cannot attend the full-day program, you may participate in a half-day
session: from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. or from 12:45 to 3:30 p.m.
Either way, you are invited to contribute to and share in the pot-luck
vegetarian lunch, served between 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
Any contribution would be warmly welcomed. May 2008 Please remember to a) return books/tapes/CDs to the library within the 2-month lending limit b) sign them in on return FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE
